A VOICE TO BE THANKFUL FOR

“A Voice To Be Thankful For” is a collaborative mural between Jeremy Nichols and Merhan Heard (Eatcho) located on the Black United Fund building in the Albert Street Arts District in Portland. This mural hornors historically significant women of color featuring: Coretta Scott King, Ruby Bridges, Ruby Dee, Angela Davis and Maya Angelou . Jeremy Nichols and Eatcho wanted to take a more contemporary approach to painting a “community mural” , as they wanted this mural to appeal to the public of all age groups, and for years to come.

Alberta Street used to be a major hub for Portland’s African American community, but has since undergone widespread development and gentrification.

The 25-by-100 foot mural, was painted with both spray paint and latex paint.
